Martín Mendoza Maya was born in Mexico City on February 11, 1966, and learned sculpture as a child from his sculptor father. He first exhibited at 17 at Galería de Arte Misrachi, working in direct carving in marble and wood before mastering a wide range of sculptural techniques as a modeler, primarily for D'Argenta. His pieces have been commissioned by the Presidential Guards, the Legislative Assembly of the Federal District, and the Mexico City Government, and shown at Galería Aura, the American School Foundation, and Torre Domecq.
