Our Curation

A Mexico City atelier, fifty years at the bench.

Venustare's collection is drawn from D'Argenta, a silversmithing house founded in Mexico City in 1976, part of the same twentieth-century revival of Mexican silver craft that made Taxco, an hour south, into the country's capital of the trade. Every piece we sell is hand-finished in silver, gold, or copper at that atelier and signed with a certificate naming the maker.

Heritage

A craft older than the atelier itself.

Mexican silver work carries a history longer than any one workshop's. Silver has been drawn from Mexican mines and worked by Mexican hands since long before the country had that name. The modern trade as most people know it, though, dates to the early 1930s, when Taxco's silversmiths began building the workshop tradition (pairing pre-Hispanic motifs with a more architectural, modern line) that turned the town into the country's silver capital and set the standard the rest of the industry has measured itself against since.

D'Argenta's atelier, founded in Mexico City in 1976, belongs to the generation that grew up inside that standard. Its own contribution has been sculptural rather than ornamental: full figures (jaguars, eagle warriors, a Frida Kahlo edition, a Dalí edition licensed directly through the Dalí Foundation) worked in the round and finished by hand in silver, gold, or copper, rather than the flatware and jewelry most of Taxco's workshops built their names on.

The Licensed Editions

Two artists, one atelier trusted with both.

The Dalí collection is licensed through the Dalí Foundation and limited by design: a handful of pieces, each one translated from a two-dimensional image into an object that has to hold up from every angle, not just the one the painting was known for. The Frida Kahlo edition works from the same discipline, rendering her most recognized images and motifs as freestanding silver and gold sculpture rather than flat reproduction. Both editions ship with the appropriate foundation licensing alongside their certificate of authenticity.

Make It Yours

Personalize any piece.

Two options are available across the whole catalog, not just a single showcase piece: an engraved nameplate, and, for sculptures that don't already come with one, a display base custom-fabricated by D'Argenta to Venustare's specification. Both are real, selectable options on every product page, and either adds one week to processing (large pieces with a custom base can take longer, confirmed with you before your order ships).

We also hand-assemble and package themed, multi-piece Custom Gift Sets, and take commissions for pieces built from your own photograph, sketch, or 3D file.
